Wonder Me!
Definition: agonist binds => agonist opens channels.

Clinical Examples:

1. Nicotinic receptor is a ACh receptor. Its agonist is ACh neurotransmitter. Its agonist also includes Nicotine drug. ACh receptor is an example of gated ion channel. ACh is an agonist to open the ACh receptor.
     Clinical applications:
       a. Nicotinic antagonist:  inhibits ACh activities at nicotinic ACh receptor (1)
       b. Nicotinic agonist: mimics ACh neurotransmitter at nicotinic ACh receptor (2)

2. GABA receptors "are a class of receptors that respond to the neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), the chief inhibitory neurotransmitter in the vertebrate central nervous system." (3)  GABA reduces action potentials releases at amygdala resulting in anxyliotics and anti-epileptics effects (4). GABA drugs are benzodiazepine such as Lorazepam

3. 5-HT receptors: has Serotonin as its receptor. Serotonin neurotransmitters make you feel good. Therefore many drugs work to make sure serotonin is available plentiful such as SSRIs for antidepressants (5)
